Sarah is an expert in her field, having taught Religious Studies and led the Religious Studies departments at first MPW and then Putney High School for over 30 years. She is also highly experienced in the softer skills of supporting students’ academic and pastoral needs: as Director of Studies, Head of Year 10/11, UCAS coordinator and providing Sixth Form pastoral support.
“I like the energy of teaching online at Wendover,” says Sarah. “As a teacher you have to work a bit harder to generate a relaxed and interactive atmosphere, but it can be really enjoyable. I have spent my career trying to make education accessible to student of different needs – especially for students who struggle in the jangly energy of a school environment.”
Sarah is cheerful, empathetic and practical and loves the opportunities online teaching gives to engage with her students. “Along with enabling my students to be happy and fulfilled, caring for animals is the calling of my heart. I have 8 cats of my own and have been a guardian to many others. I am vegan for the animals!”
As a trained classical singer, Sarah also sings regularly and has performed over 60 operatic principal roles. In her spare time, she loves singing with her talented musical colleagues, chatting for hours with friends over coffee, wine and food, as well as enjoying the simple pleasures of a sunny day and being by the sea.
