About

Rachel has an extensive background in teaching, including as Head of History at a secondary school in Swindon. She taught History and Geography at A level in a Further Education college in Penzance, Cornwall, alongside pastoral responsibilities, and academic mentoring before joining Wendover Online School.

I really enjoy teaching, and my good mix of academic and pastoral experience means that my current roles suit me perfectly,” says Rachel. She loves the ‘vibe’ at our online school, and is particularly proud that it enables all kinds of students to benefit from personalised learning which works around the rest of their lives. She believes teaching online offers an extra dimension to History teaching and loves finding new software and websites that enhance learning for students.

Having lived in many different locations, including a short stint teaching English in Peru, Rachel has settled in Cornwall with her husband and young family. She enjoys hiking the Southwest Coast Path and exploring the historical sites of West Penwith. When the Cornish weather turns wet- as it usually does- crocheting and reading become Rachel’s pastimes. She loves a good historical biography but her favourite genre is crime fiction of- the cosy Miss Marple kind.
