“Teaching maths is my passion!” says Debbi, who is an experienced maths teacher, maths adviser, senior leader, examiner and mathematical author. Through hands on teaching, she better understands the way young people learn maths, helping her teaching and writing continuously evolve to gain the best outcome for students.
Debbi fell into teaching online by accident, having been asked to teach some online revision lessons for a charity.“ The students were spread across the country and felt they got a lot out of it, and I really enjoyed it.”
Now, she relishes teaching maths online in Wendover’s small classes and using the many resources available to help students learn in real time. Acknowledging that students get more attention in small classes, Debbi finds that she can pick up any gaps in knowledge really fast and their confidence builds much more quickly – no time is wasted.
In her spare time, Debbi loves to travel and see new places, immersing herself in the culture. She is happiest pending time with her family, but also says “I love the wild ocean on a warm day.”

How we use assessments to help students learn
At Wendover Online School, our small class sizes of up to six pupils means we can tailor our teaching to meet the needs of the individual students. In addition, we use a range of assessments across the school year to find out how we can support each student’s individual learning needs, and to measure progress so that we can focus our help.
