Alexis Brookfield

TEACHER OF ENGLISH, HISTORY AND PRIMARY

About

Ever since Alexis could draw with chalk, she has had a desire to teach others. “My purpose in life, or what the Japanese refer to as Ikigai, is undoubtedly helping people. Teaching absolutely fulfils this – whether I am supporting students academically, or discussing issues that will help improve their wellbeing or life skills.”

Over 15 years as a teacher, Alexis has helped speakers of many different languages to learn English and worked with many GCSE and A-level students to achieve their best. She loves the creative aspect of planning lessons and tailoring learning to the needs and interests of individual learners. It was this bespoke approach, enabled by small class sizes, which interested her in teaching online with Wendover Online School.

“Students learn best when they are motivated by engaging, relevant material and I enjoy this way of working so much that it is now my preferred method of teaching! Online lessons can be highly personalised and interactive. Students are focused yet relaxed in the comfort of their own homes, which makes them much more receptive to learning.”

Alexis is happiest when spending time with her husband and young son. When time allows, she likes reading to develop her knowledge of Stoic philosophy or learning about Korean cuisine on her family’s quest for healthy, delicious meals. She is also an aspiring minimalist, keen to declutter her home to prioritise experiences over things.
