How Wendover provides enrichment beyond the classroom
At Wendover we provide online lessons with excellent teachers to small class sizes in an environment that encourages children to be confident, inquisitive learners.
More than this, we also provide an array of extra-curricular enrichment activities, including clubs, meet-ups and online talks that our pupils can enjoy outside school hours. These help build social and life skills – and keep your children happily engaged when they might otherwise be at a loose end.
Afternoon fun clubs
In this blog, we’ll look at the range of clubs we offer on weekday afternoons after formal lessons have finished for the day. Each club lasts for our usual 40 minutes, and we are able to pack a lot of fun into that time!
Free to join
Most of our clubs are free and open to any pupil who wishes to attend, so children can share time with their friends and enjoy mixing across different age groups. Pupils can drop in to try out a session, or even join halfway through the term – there is no commitment, but we find once pupils try a club they are hooked.
Pleasure and enrichment
We foster a relaxed atmosphere for club meetings and whilst teachers are helpful and enthusiastic there is no testing, just the satisfaction of a shared sense of interest or achievement. Clubs give pupils the opportunity to explore new interests and try out practical skills, all within a safe and friendly club environment.
A wide range of clubs
Our club offerings change each term, and we send parents regular email updates to make sure they know what is available. Here are some examples – would your child enjoy one of these clubs?
- Baking Club: follow along with Baking Around the World – new recipes every week to try at home.
- Photography Club: learn how to get the best from your phone’s camera including on-phone tricks and editing.
- Debating Club: express your opinions, disagree politely and persuade more effectively, with helpful tips and tricks.
- Art Club: an opportunity to express yourself in different media, including pottery, textiles, 3D modelling, drawing and painting.
- Creative Writing Club: the chance to explore a wider range of techniques for fun.
After-school enrichment from Wendover
We receive lots of positive feedback from parents about the good relationships between our teachers and pupils, and between the pupils themselves. In part, this is thanks to our ethos of treating your children as individuals, each with their own interests and strengths to be nurtured. After-school clubs play an important role in developing the whole child.
We hope you will share some of our out-of-school enrichment activities with your children, from Clubs to Meet-ups and sessions with our invited online speakers (more about these in future blogs).
