Alex Coxall

TEACHER OF SCIENCE

About

Alex has recently relocated from Shanghai, China, where he spent eleven years teaching in local and international schools across the city. He has experience teaching a range of ages and curricula in Science and Mathematics, including common core, AP, KS3, and KS4. Alex has also collaborated with organisations like Edexcel to introduce British curricula and GCSE exams into Chinese school’s international departments.

Alex has a keen interest in Project Based Learning (PBL) and Philosophy for Children (P4C) as approaches to the curriculum across all age groups. He is currently engaged in research concerning inherent gender bias in large language model AI systems, particularly in relation to educational software training data.

Outside of teaching, Alex enjoys photography, running the Photography Club at Wendover Online School, as well as cooking and boxing. He finds remote teaching particularly rewarding, as it not only enables him to reach students globally but also allows for smaller class sizes, allowing him to give more helpful, personalised feedback to individual students.
